Heidee blogs: April Fools!
On weekends I admit I forget the calendar. It must be because weekends are my only rest from work, and for work I rely so much on the calendar. So my subconscious turns off everything work-related during my rest days, including the calendar. That was why I forgot my close friend Donnel's birthday. Oh sure I know the date, April 2. But on the date itself it did not register in me that it was April 2. That's also why I forgot about April Fool's day, though I used to be such a prankster before. Tsk tsk. Too bad I didn't get a chance to pull a fast one this April Fool's!
There were a few people who were able to, though. Adrian, our newest virtual housemate (VH) in the PBB Fantasy Game, suddenly said he was quitting, after not even a week of playing the game. I was really saddened by his decision, because when I got back into the house (I was evicted before and was welcomed back as a returnee only recently), he was the first person I talked to. And then suddenly he was gonna leave, just like that. It did puzzle me, though, why his voluntary exit message was entitled "Adrian Quits?" with a question mark and why his status box in the PBB header remained green for "playing." Then as it turns out, he was just playing an April Fool's joke on us, which was his special task. He got me there!
Another one who also tried to pull a joke and almost got me was Big Bad Kuya (BBK) himself. On April Fools night I was watching the real PBB on TV and waiting for the big winner to be announced when my cellphone beeped. It was a YM message (I was online on SMS) from BBK saying he was quitting PBBFG. I was astounded, but I didn't quite believe it. I told Neil TG, whom I was texting at that moment, about it, and when he asked why, I forwarded the message to him and said I didn't know. Then I wondered, "Could this be some kind of test?" Neil agreed that it could be. I replied to BBK's message, saying, "Huh? Why?" When even he provided no answer, I texted Maristel, a VH whom I have gotten to talk to only now on my "second life." It was she who said that it was just a connivance. Whew! She even said that Kath was also in on it. But I wasn't online during the weekend so I didn't get to see Kath's joke (she also said she was quitting).
Well, so much for pranks. As for me, I am a prankster myself. My favorites have got to be those phone pranks we used to pull in High School. I had a couple of connivers, too. During summers I used to go over to our neighbor Babes and she'd get me to call up her classmates who didn't know me. Then once they answered the phone I'd tell them, "Hello this is Water District. Could you please check if your water is running?" They would actually believe me and go check their water. When they got back they'd say that the water was running and I'd yell, "Eh di habulin mo!" and put the phone down. Then there was also Jojo, who called up our friend Rey and said, "Hi! This is Gino of RX 93.1 with a goodnight call from Lavender who says, goodnight and sweet dreams. Do you have a message for her?" Rey did not recognize Jojo's voice and actually believed him and answered his queries. After they were through, Jojo called me up and relayed what happened to me. Then I called Rey up and told him, "Hey Rey, I heard you over the radio!" Then of course since I knew from Jojo what they talked about, I was also able to convince him that he really was heard over the air. Hahaha. Of course we told the people we fooled that it was us later on.
Isn't fooling fun, though? So long as it doesn't hurt anybody!
